Open Banking information

Last updated: 29 August 2026

Why live bank connections are outside Brakan's current Core-demand pilot.

Paused product area — no live customer bank connection is available

Current position

Brakan does not offer live bank connections during the current pilot. Customers may import transactions using the published Brakan CSV template; direct bank-export compatibility and PDF bank-statement parsing are paused. The underlying experimental integration code is not a customer service or product commitment.

Regulatory position

Brakan is not currently authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority as an account-information service provider and does not claim to be. Any later reconsideration would require an appropriately authorised provider’s hosted consent and data-access service or any approval legally required for the chosen model.

Intended connection journey

  • The customer chooses to connect an eligible account.
  • The authorised provider identifies itself and redirects the customer to the bank for authentication and consent.
  • Brakan does not receive or store online-banking passwords.
  • Brakan receives only the account information and provider tokens permitted by the consent.
  • Imported transactions support reconciliation and property accounting; Brakan does not initiate payments.

Customer control

The customer must connect only accounts they are entitled to access. Consent scope, duration, refresh frequency and disconnect instructions will be shown before connection. Customers will be able to disconnect in Brakan and may also withdraw access through their bank or provider.

Limitations

Pending transactions may change, settled descriptions may differ, feeds may be delayed or unavailable and reconnection may be required. Customers remain responsible for reviewing records before relying on tax, rent or accounting outputs.

Conditions for reconsideration

  • Demonstrated customer demand for Brakan Core and connected banking.
  • Select and contract with an authorised provider.
  • Confirm Brakan’s FCA regulatory perimeter and registration or agent requirements in writing.
  • Complete provider due diligence, DPIA, consent wording, privacy updates and incident responsibilities.
  • Publish provider identity, bank coverage, connection allowances and verified pricing.
